Key Intellectual Property Issues
Intellectual property refers to creations of the mind, such as inventions; literary and artistic works; designs; and symbols, names, and images used in commerce. It is protected in law by, for example, patents, copyright, and trademarks, which enable people to earn recognition or financial benefit from what they invent or create. (wipo.int) There are 6 types of intellectual property: Copyright, Patents, Trademarks, Industrial Designs, Geographical indications and Trade secrets. How can we easily take advantage of someone's work without any permission or credits especially when we use this for reference to our research, school activities or songs we use for completing our video. So is it okay for you that someone might be able to grab or get your photos posted online?
For me, I possibly share my work such as designs, codes, and poems as long as they credited my works. It deals an equal satisfaction since the person who took my work will avoid being punished by law. We need to be fair with our fellow worker or fellow programmers because it will you to be a better person which can lead to be a successful programmer.
Copying their works as your reference is not a problem as long as you put their names and make some credits. This only defines how responsible creators you are which obey other creators.
